SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage

SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage is a composite fibreglass wrap with a water-activated resin. When wrapped and smoothed around a pipe, it sets rock hard in minutes to form a WRAS approved, impact resistant outer sleeve which strengthens and protects pipework, extending the lifespan of systems.

The fast-working resin infused in SylWrap HD allows rapid repair of pipes and structures made from steel, stainless steel, iron, copper, PVC, GRP, clay, ceramic, concrete, lead and rubber. It can be applied around difficult elbow joints, tee joints and welds.

Applying SylWrap HD to pipelines improves pressure resistance, chemical resistance and hoop strength. Where a pipe has been weakened or damaged, SylWrap HD increases outer wall thickness to return the line to original specification.

It also reinforces repairs made with other Sylmasta leak repair products. Wrapping SylWrap HD over a sealing material such as Superfast Epoxy Putty or Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape provides an additional layer over the initial sealant, offering a permanent solution.

SylWrap HD is temperature resistant to 250°C and has WRAS approval for use with drinking water. Water companies in the UK use it for reinforcing repairs to leaking pipes and burst water mains.

The high chemical resistance of SylWrap HD enables it to repair hydrogen, sulphuric acid and other pipelines in petrochemical plants and oil refineries. Other uses include desalination plants, wastewater treatment works, district heating and nuclear power stations.

SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage Details

SylWrap HD is easy-to-use. Dipping the bandage in water activates the resin. The bandage is then wrapped around the pipe or structure requiring strengthening.

Further water is added to smooth SylWrap HD down as application continues. SylWrap HD has a work time of 2-5 minutes. A functional cure is achieved in 30 minutes and a full cure with maximum properties in 24 hours.

11 different sizes of SylWrap HD are available, covering pipework in excess of 600mm diameter. To determine the size of SylWrap HD and quantity needed for a specific application, please use the Repair Calculator tab and enter your repair data.

SylWrap HD can also be purchased as part of the Universal Pipe Repair Kit for fixing live leaks. The Kit includes a single bandage along with two sealing materials and is suitable for repairing all types of pipes.

The below SylWrap Coverage Calculator can be used to determine the optimum SylWrap HD repair for a pipe reinforcement or strenghthening application.

Enter the diameter of the pipe in millimetres, the length of the area to be wrapped in millimetres and the pressure which the pipeline operates under.

The safety factor is a multiple to include a margin of safety. For example, if pipe pressure is 5 bar and you want a safety factor of two, the calculator will formulate a repair capable of withstanding 10 bar.

Once you have entered your data, the calculator will show you the SylWrap Bandage which is recommended for your application, the required thickness of repair, the number of layers to reach the stated thickness and the quantity of bandages required.

If you wish to see the repair requirements for a specific bandage, the SylWrap size can be changed. The calculator will then determine the repair thickness, number of layers and quantity of bandage required.
